"Personal Shoppers"

Turkeys, pumpkin and apple pies, rolls, stuffing, veggies, and much more. Here at the GreenHouse Center November 20th 2010 was filled with giving and receiving hearts, laughter, and people ready to serve as Christ did.Every year here at the GreenHouse Center around the Thanksgiving holiday, we gather donations from churches, schools, the local community, from private donors to fill baskets of food for a Thanksgiving meal. Once filled we go to each families house and deliver the basket of holiday goodies.

This year however The GreenHouse to the initiative to create an opportunity for the families to grab a box and fill it with what they would like to cook during the Holiday Celebration.

So we created the Thankful Hearts Food Store which took place in our facility at RGE.

With our help from Christian Volunteer Network and the GreenHouse, parents helped organize and facilitate this event within their own community and gave back with loving hearts. What started off with a facility filled with tables of food on a rainy day ended with a sunny mid-day with a room of volunteers and empty tables - having served 66 families!

On behalf of the GreenHouse Staff we would like to thank the helpful passionate and compassionate volunteers who were "personal shoppers" and served at our first Thankful Hearts food Store.

Thank You and a Happy Holidays from GH!!!

GH Volunteers

An Intro to Our Volunteers

What else can I say about our volunteers...except that we NEED and APPRECIATE each one of them dearly. Without our volunteers and their willing hearts to give back to their community we would not be able to run our programs. Each time we start the new year, our mission is like the American Idol search for the best in the land. We keep our eyes, ears, and did i mention eyes...out for individuals, like the ones working with us, who are passionate about working with the youth, motivated to educate, and have the willingness to express the passion and compassion for our students.

To better put into words how much we love and adore our volunteers this eloquently phrased poem by Margaret A. Francis is appropriate.

The Volunteer

The Volunteer is one with a heart so sincere.

No task too large, no task too small,
Who will help with anything at all.

Who will be there in the morning light,
Or help in the dark of night.

The Volunteer, our extra hand,
On whose future our Children Stand.

Never anyone so dear as a GH Volunteer !
